Prayer helps change me, helps me get my heart and head together, then I respond differently, and not necessarily only to small things. That is not to say God doesn't change things, but I have no proof of that, as you likely want. I do have the subjective experience of me changing, however. Possibly others see and experience the changes in me as well. The consistency of the changes from prayer and reading of the sacred writings speaks very loudly to me to confirm that there is a power greater than me. Their predictive power is convincing as well. I'm a Baha'i.
MamaBear below says it succinctly.

some people can say it was a coincidence. other's believe it's God's help. I say if there's so many coincidences in a line, it's God. and i kno most of MY 'coincidences' wouldnt happen if i didnt pray before.

I guess I believe in karma good things happen to you if you do good deeds and correct yourself, I don't really believe in a higher person or thing somwhere that answers our prayers, I just believe that if you do somthing bad to somone it will affect you somtime in the near future.

Belief is all god asks for. If you don't believe, you will never truly understand the meaning of a relationship with god.

It is tempting to believe either.
But I know I have more "coincidences" when I pray, than when I don't.
