I have my tongue pierced and I absolutely love it! If shes worried about chipping her teeth she can get an acrylic or plastic barbell....they wont do **** to your teeth if you accidentally bite them.
Getting it does not hurt as bad as everyone thinks it does and the procedure only takes a few minutes. Yes the healing sucksass, but that only lasts a week or two then you have a badass barbell for however long you like it!
Very rarely do people ever get infections....the mouth cleans itself. Don't worry about it. Very rarely do they cause any dental problems...unless your sliding it around your teeth...but c'mon don't be a dumbass.
In the end, its her decision not yours...but its nice to see you care about her. :)

I think if you want it, you should get it. I've had mine done for years and I've yet to chip any teeth. It's not a requirement of tongue piercing to chip teeth..it happens to some people, not everyone. And I've had jobs that never knew I had my tongue pierced. You can't see it since its in my mouth and I talk perfectly normal with it. Also, I haven't had any issues eating since it's been healed. But if you do get it done, you probably will talk funny for at least a week and your tongue is going to swell up. You can still eat whatever you want, drink, smoke.. you just need to use an alcohol free mouthwash after doing so. And be careful eating because the barbell is going to be a little long to allow for swelling; if you bit down on it, it's not going to feel good, so chew slowly. And I'm personally a big fan of piercings. I don't see how that makes me immature. Edit: ha I also think it's kind of unlikely to get it ripped out in a fight. It's possible but if I got in a fight and the person put their fingers in my mouth, they better be ready to lose some fingers.

Pros? Um....can't think of any! Cons? Infection, swelling, possibility of chipping her teeth, instant speech impediment, excessive bleeding if piercing done by unqualified person (going through the vein in the tongue). Infection causing swelling and her tongue growing over the piercing and surgery needed to remove not only the piercing but also part of her tongue!!!! These are all situations that have arisen for various friends of ours. Tongue piercing bad idea? Definately!

The cons of a piercing is it can crack your teeth (I have seen it ) you can loose a tooth or break a tooth to the point where it can need a crown and root canal. The tongue can become infected and It will never heal properly. Speech is poor because of the swelling for long period of time. It might cost more than you think with the damage it will do to your teeth. Pros It looks cool. and might be erotic . Hope this helped. Cool name!! my son has the same name.

well i had my tongue done when i was 16 and kept it in until i was 21...
PRO's
1. the boys liked it- for kissing and more!!
2. it gave me something to play wiht when i was bored
3. it makes you feel like a rebel
4. its a good talking point
5. if you decide you dont like it it is easy to remove and doesn't leave too bad a hole
CON's
1. it is quite painful to have done and can be sore for days (even longer if not done properly)
2. if its not done properly or hygenically it can lead to really bad problems- bad infections etc. I know someone who's tongue was pumping blood as they had such a bad infection and it just literally burst his tongue.
3. it can get in the way when you are eating and really cringeworthy if you bite it by accident when eating
4. too many popel have it done these days- used ot be hardly anyone but seems really common now
5. some boys/ men dont like it- i took mine out when i first got with my hubby as he didn't like it!
6. occasionally it can come out in sleep and pose a choking hazard (happened to me several times)
7. apparently it can damage your teeth- dont know about this but i had pretty chipped teeth at the front although i feel the piercing could have made it worse (now paid hundreds for veneera!)
Leave it up to your friend but if she does get it done make sure it is at a reputable place!!

Well actually you can't have it get infected because your saliva conteracts it as a cleaning agent, but your tongue could reject it or have a bad reaction to the type of metal you use, or you could hit that vein which can paralize you from the face down, I think that is what it was. But You also have to be careful when eating because like you've heard you could bite the barbell and chip your tooth bad.

When you take it out , the scar remains raised up on your tongue. I had mine in for 8 years, and took it out last year.
Also, I find that it limits me being able ot stick my tongue out at people. Which is important for me lol

The only pro I can think of is that oral sex will be amazing, as for cons there is always the tonguue swelling and risk of infection.
