Where are the feminists? Where are all those people who say they protect children from bad influence? Where are the human rights activists? Because, these women surely need someone to speak out for them, as it seems they can't do it for themselves!
Obesity vs. anorexia. There is something wrong with this culture, don't you think?

It seems my message is not clear. These women are undernourished, people! They are starving themselves to death, just because those skeleton legs are the rule in Hollywood! I don't care what people do to themselves, but our children see them and think that looks are normal!
I definitely support the no-anorexic-looking-models movement in fashion business.

We're living in such a weird world... These famous women are under constant pressure to be thin, or they won't be successful in Hollywood. They don't get the acting job of the pretty lady, when they're 10 kilos bigger. But... when they look too thin, the whole world is commenting on their ribs showing off in the press.
When will not only our 'role-models', but also the rest of us be just happy with the way we are, healthy curves and all?
Being as thin as possible has been a trend for quite some time now. Also I hoped that (after some size 0 models died because of severe underweight) the determination of a required minimum weight for models on the catwalk, the better example was set and this trend would diminish...
But just now I thought that ridiculous as-thin-as-possible trend was getting out of fashion, they invented something new in the States (the country with the largest percentage of people with obesity, how ironic): size 00.
A size 00 is equal to size 30 and then I'm not talking about the pant-size! Who fits this size (xxxs)? In a normal world it would be only a 7 year old...
What's next? Size 000? Maybe the ones striving for this goal will finally get what they want so badly, when they lie burried in their coffin, due to undernourishment...
Yes, I do believe that these trends set a bad example, and not only for our kids. Even I, knowing all I just wrote here, find it sometimes hard to be happy with the way I look. Until the fashion industry and Hollywood keep this skinnier-than-skinny look as the standard for being beautiful, I don't see a change in this. Even though almost everyone (men and women) is saying they don't define this look as beautiful, we're still en mass sticking to our diets and feel guilty about that bar of chocolate that just went down our throat in one time.
Think I want to become a feminist...

Sorry, the link didn't work. But generally all one needs to see is "coast-to-coast" to realize it's just more modern folklore and hype. Art Bell has never, in all his years of championing extraordinary claims, been able to produce one solid piece of evidence for anything like UFO's, ET's, alien abductions, etc. He's not the only one. These people and their books and documentaries and radio shows always present an air of plausibility, but they have never produced anything that has held up to scrutiny. I wish I could see the pictures. I have gotten pretty good at photo identification over the years. But why should I even try to answer you when you have already disallowed any answer that might show that the photo is fake? And you say it's been investigated, but I'll bet it hasn't been investigated by anyone who considered the possibility of it being a fake or misidentification. So-called UFO investigators are nothing but flag wavers for their cause and they want to get in the limelight. There aren't many rational, objective investigators like Philip Klass left.

Tell me about it. My daughter who is seven now seems to be more conscious of her figure than I am! She tells me, "Mom you've gained weight." after a pause she adds, "a lot of weight". No matter how much I try to convince her, all her role models are stick thin. I am not talking about Barbie dolls but those insane cartoon characters like Totally Spies or Brats where all of them are so thin. Our culture seems to be coming back to where "thin is in". I've had a difficult time feeding her which seems to be me torturing her to eat. It's tiring to say "ye" at least forty times during mealtime.
I myself am a couple of pounds overweight but I think it's normal. I don't know why we don't go back to the Renaissance period where robust women were the norm. I've never seen a painting of a thin naked lady in a museum before. All of them were of women who are by our standards amply overweight.
Feminists aside, aren't some or most men partly to blame for wanting their women super sexy or thin? It ticks me a little when a woman can't enjoy a whole doner without men saying that "You're not supposed to finish that because you're a woman" meaning the doner was basically for a man's appetite and as a woman, you have to eat a woman's portion of it. That happened to me once.

Ok this was digusting!
All my life i made sports and i still make everything you can think of because i believe that sports is very very important in our lives for our health.
I pay really a lot of attention to what i eat i mean healthy food. vegetables, fruits, fish etc. But i don't know how someone can be that skinny!
This is not healthy. This is sick.
Of course there are some people who are naturally thin but this is nothing to do with them. Naturally thin people do not starve themselves they just eat and do not gain weight so they look healthy not like that.
I prefer Scarlette Johanson, Jessica Alba or Gisele Bundchen to those who have horrible legs.
Giydikleri bile yakismamis ki!

I totally agree that the type of "beautiful woman"that international movie and music industry promotes, is totally pathetic!
Thus according to my opinion, its not totally their fault, we have our share too in this situation, cause we accept what they offer us and we dont have the required stamina to say no and react!
And I agree its a matter of culture..
Nowadays Vanity and Eternal Youthness are the N 1 goals not only for young people but for old ones too..
The question is what can we do about it?
We can reject those beauty standards that they set and learn to accept reality, to love and care for people, and to see beneath the surface
That was a good question - I run - congrats

Who cares if some rich skinny women don't want to eat? I sure don't, I'm pretty sure they can speak out for themselves if they wanted to, Angelina Jolie is a UN representative for Pete's sake. I'm more concerned with the people who are underweight because they have no food to eat, rather than the ones who shovel it down & then puke it up!

i cannot understand why people are so obsessed to look skinny in order to look good. you said that it affects children badly now i will tell you another part of it. it affects parents, too. for example when i was small i was chubby but for last 3 years i have always been thin.(you know you get taller and so on...) then this anorexia became fashion and last year i was about 45 kilos. it made my mum worry a lot my height is 165cm and she said i looked horrible. she thought i was anorexic and she refused to accept that since i had a lot of tests and works to do, i could be just depressed. and still she forces me to eat. well with her insisting i gained 3-4 kilos. and she still says i have to eat more and more. i cannot make her believe that i don't care about my look, i just cannot eat as much as she expects. so please if your child is thin don't just say "ooh she got this model disease" maybe there's another reason!!

At 36 I can look at this and know it is not reality, these people are abnormal, This is the same as obesity; an illness. But I think young girls can't see that this is NOT reality! It is a dangerous example. But then look how these girls carry on, they drive drunk and get arrested. They are a bad example.
They honestly (not all) look quite bad, am I the only one who thinks so?

American paparazzi are sickos who love exploiting people to their fullest. Most of those pictures are photoshoped or are real. The sad part is how people have to put celebrities under microscopes and place any bad pictures of them. Even if it's just them walking a dog...who cares what celebrities do in their free time, they sure don't care about others. They have so much money and only donate it to 1 organization.
