Ours came with a separate tray with a lid and it sits on a regular shelf. I put them in the egg box usually because my wife bakes and there are usually 2 dozen in the fridge.

Actually, it's best to store eggs in the carton they came in since eggs are semi-permeable. The air allows for the proper exchange of air. Those dimples or egg holders do not.

I used to because I thought it looked pretty (I'm an odd duck) then I heard they don't stay cold enough there, so now they stay in the carton and I can't admire them as much (farm fresh eggs, ya' know with bits of stuff still on 'em) Yes, yes, I wash them. The shells go in the garden.

i always use the egg tray in the fridge, but have been told you should never store eggs in the fridge.
it shows, cause we always find them on a shelf in the supermarket and not a fridge!
You should always store them pointy side down as well.

you should keep eggs in the carton they come in. the 'egg dimples' are the worst place in the fridge to keep them. you are actually not supposed to store anything highly perishable in the door because it is the warmest spot in the fridge.
