Why do the signs that say "slow children" have a picture of a running child?

Because the word 'slow' is telling you what you should do, not explaining what the child is doing, witch is fast. And the word 'children' is the explaination of why YOU should go slow! Hope this clears things up

i do no longer truly comprehend what you're asking. Are you asking what the purpose of the sign is? the purpose it to warn drivers that there are playing toddlers interior the area. the different situation is.. are you asking approximately how that's a play on words? which ability besides the reality that it is telling the motive force to decelerate, it is depicting the toddler as sluggish because of the fact of ways it is worded (even although the photograph is of a working toddler).
