I have a buyer for my car and he is comin to pick it up this Saturday, he is going to pay me £3700 in a bankers draft. How can i be sure it is not fake and i will get my money? Are there any ways in which i can check its real before letting my car go?

Ask him to go to the bank with you to cash it before turning the car over to him.

If he is paying with a bankers draft, you will be exchanging the car for a piece of paper. Does that sound right? If it's during banking hours you or your bank can contact the issuing bank to ask if the draft is real. Otherwise ensure that the MONEY is in your account with no possibility of being removed before releasing the car. If he can get a draft surely he can get cash. If you willingly hand the car over and later find you are defrauded your insurers and the police will not be very helpful.

DO NOT ACCEPT a Bankers Draft! They can be forged. If the person has the money, tell them politely that CASH would be very acceptable. Will the bank be closed when he hands over the draft? On a Saturday, maybe yes?
If he won't give you cash, and I can see no legit reason why that would have to be the case, then don't give him the car until it's cleared.
This all sounds very harsh, but you could easily lose your car here!

It's very sad, but I have learned the hard way that you can't trust anybody. The nicest seeming people can rip you off. Until you have the actual cash you can't be sure that everything is above board, so just try to explain this to the buyer and say as soon as the banker's draft has cleared he can collect the car. Other than that, if he wants the car straight away he should be more than happy to go to the bank with you and sort it straight away. If you do this, take someone with you just to be safe. I don't want to alarm you, but you really can't be too careful when it's for so much money.
Good luck. xx

hold the car until you cash the check or whatever it is or you could ask for a down payment in cash. If i were you i would have some kind of contract with the buyers signature on it promising that he will pay you the 3700. This contract will help if you need to go to court abou this issue

Meet the guy at the bank and do not give him the car until the bank accepts the draft. Good Luck and God Bless You!

Ask the person to drive to the bank or where he purchased the item at, and cash them there. Then when you go back home sign the title over and have a good day

IT SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM...........................
TAKE THE CHECK TO THE BANK SO THAT THEY CAN SEE IF IT IS IN FACT GOOD.
HOWEVER THE BANK CAN SOMETIMES TELL JUST BY LOOKING AT IT BUT THEY WONT REALLY WONT KNOW UNTIL IT GOES THROUGH.
I ALWAYS ASK FOR A POSTAL MONEY ORDER OR CASH, SAFEST WAY.
IF YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE OR THE BANK CANNOT DO ANYTHING THEN DON'T SELL IT.
ONCE GONE NEVER SEEN AGAIN.

ask to have the money wired to your account instead, either that or ask for cash, certified check. What ever you do, do not be afraid to ask the man to go with you to cash the check, you always want your money before you trade the ccar off.
