It's called self control.
If you do not possess this, you have no business having a credit card.

You just say no, and be firm about it. I have a debit card that can be used as a credit card, but I rarely do credit. I prefer to only buy what I can pay for at the time. I wouldn't want to charge something, then end up in a pinch or forget to pay the bill (I have enough bills to keep track of).

I paid all of mine off after getting into major trouble and cut them up. I now only use a visa debit card and have one credit card with a low limit for emergencies. The ability to spend what seems like unlimited amounts of money is definitely addicting, and the best way to combat it is to get rid of the temptation and cut up your cards. It won't take long before you learn to live within your budget and your credit score and check book will thank you!

You proceed the same way as for any other addictions! You admit you have a problem with it, and decide that this is the day you stop! And you turn your back on it never to use it again! If you are determined enough, it is very easy! Many did this with alcohol, etc... I stopped smoking cold turkey this way and only the first few days were difficult. It is now 7 years and I would never smoke again. .. Just your will!. YOU CAN DO IT !
Good luck.

I don't. I use my credit card for everything. It has a cash back reward. Then I pay it off every month.
It isn't the credit card. It's being able to live within your means. I know the difference between NEED and WANT.
Oh, my car is paid for too.

Eveyone has to learn their lesson with credit cards. I was once in debt by $6000 after college. It will all come back to haunt you at some point and you will never let it happen again.
Now I only use one card. It's my American Express card and I used my reward points for all kinds of good stuff. Plus, American Express makes you pay it off at the end of each month or they will cancel your account.

Try to get a house or car with bad credit... You'll say no to credit cards after that.

Of corse they are because its another form of instant gratification. Start working on the debt you currently have. Budjet your money to pay large sums to the credit cards you have. Make it your goal to get these things paid off. If your actively working towards that goal, the thought of adding additional debt to your self will seem less appealing.

I hate credit cards, that is why I saved some money and paid off my credit...feels good to be debt free, well at least credit card debt free...

They are that, addicting.
Have a pay off goal, when you look at your balance getting higher and higher after pouring money in them you'll stop-
But really a goal helped me.
and cut them up, or hide them. You'll just have to have some decipline you'll remeber what it's like to have the money FIRST and then buy it. But I had to hide mine until I got them to a small balance before I continued using them again, and now I only use one. But you're right, hard.
