I have owned a student house in Radford for over 5 years. During this time we have had 4 students living in it for 10 month periods. Maybe we are lucky be we (and the students) have never had one incident of trouble in all those years. The students have loved living there - so close to the nightlife of the city centre, yet inexpensive to live and (in our experience) a quiet and peaceful place to live.
During this time, my wife and I have needed to work on the house during the summer vacation and, on occasions have needed to visit the house at night and have never felt threatened in any way.
There is trouble in the area, but I firmly believe it is between the gang/drug element of society. I have found that If you give people respect and talk to them then they are only too happy to respond in an open and friendly way.
