I think the skills snipers possess are something to be highly admire. The film Shooter only increased my interest.

There were many instances in the film when you didnt see him until it appeared as if he actually emerged from the ground.

Lighten up a bit.

Who the heck would think you're weird? I like sniper movies. They have lots of suspense. And anyone that can shoot like that deserves more than a pat on the back. I hope you find more that you enjoy just as much as Shooter.

If your interest is piqued, then join up and apply for sniper work!

Failing that, each and every one of the skills snipers possess are based on prior experiences of hundreds of others who went before them.

The technical aspects are well documented. With a little effort, you can try your hand at it. (On a rifle range, that is).

There are a number of long-range (500 meters or better) shooting organizations that can give you a start. Lest you turn up your nose at a "civilian" shooting organization, note that the majority of those jokers are former snipers, just keeping their hand in.

no, i like them too. snipers are one of the highest trained personell in the military. They really dont get the respect the deserve. they have amazing self-control....they can stay motionless for days and crawl around on the ground thru anything. Atleast in hollywood they are getting some respect. I am just dying for a new movie (about iraq) or something that is all force recon snipers or something.

Read:

"One Shot Once Kill"
and
"Marine Sniper"

Those are the best two books ever about snipers.

I do not think it strange at all, it would be a very dull world if the interests of each person was the same.
I agree with you about the skills, and am in awe of how well they can shoot.

That's not Odd at all. Some think it's odd that my Wife has this facination with Mob movies and stories. (she is of Italian decent, but it's not just the Italian mafia she's into)

People like what they like.

the technical aspect you like would not be seen as stated. or they already compromised the mission.
elite units do not want the publicity nor the attention.
It is called stealth and concellment.
Their reward is knowing they did their job, better than anyone else.
No it aint wierd.

I don't think that's odd. Some of them do fairly well at the box office. I thought "Enemy at the Gates" was awesome! It's a must see if you haven't yet!

Well seeing as if the "SNIPER" in the movie was doing his job correctly as taught in the military, you would not see him for the entire movie.

DO NOT believe all you see on tv or in the movies kid!!
