Are you the one you think is easier to be?

It seems most people feel their path is the difficult path. I wonder which comes first, the belief, or the opinion of the belief? I'm guessing the belief. No need to justify something until you identify with it.

Easier?

Given that I find it impossible to believe completely irrational, insane things, I guess being an atheist is easier, in the sense that it's at least possible for me.

(Could you believe that water flows up-hill? Or would you find it impossible to believe?)

What I believe has nothing to do with what's "easiest" -- I don't believe insane things because they're insane. Since there's no evidence of any supernatural anything, and no reason to believe in any supernatural anything, I don't believe.

It's not about what's easy or hard, it's a matter of believing what's true, not what's false.

I think it's easier to be spiritual because it is a crutch and requires no thought or investigation and also you are in a big club of people who support you...........how nice and cosy.

Try being an atheist (a lone individual) and see the vitriol you are subjected to and the discrimination in public life that you have to suffer.

I am an atheist (formerly Christian)

Easier to be atheist, hands down. It's hard work being spiritual. God is with you every step of the way but He never says it will be easy. As a matter of fact, He says that if you really follow Him, you'll face persecutions.

To be an atheist - you don't have to do anything.

Being spiritual takes effort. We pray, read & study. Personally I go to Church every Sunday and the meeting block goes for 3 hours. About once a month I go to another type of church meeting that is very sacred to me.

I teach a group of 9-year olds. That's a challenge since not only do I have to study for myself but I need to be able to teach these sweet (ACTIVE) kids.

My spirituallity and my religion are my life. Without it, I'm just a shell of a person with no real meaning in life.

Atheism is a lack of belief or faith. Belief and Faith require effort to maintain. People of Faith are constantly having to work at it by going to church. Reading the bible over and over and over, seeking out support from others.

Atheism is independent. It requires no evidence and I don't need to attend a weekly meeting every Sunday to keep it that way.

If by 'spiritual' you mean religious, there is no question about it. It's VASTLY easier to be religious. All your questions are either answered or irrelevant, all your morality is pre-decided for you, you don't have to worry about dying, and any problem you have can supposedly be dealt with by prayer. What could possibly be easier??

I think it's harder to be spiritual. For one people are constantly asking you questions or making assumptions on your religion. Plus I've heard that you're actually more likely to be picked on by Satan as a test of your faith.

Being an atheist requires no effort at all. Everyone is born not believing in gods.
