LCD is better. Plasma is way overrated.

Plasmas are much better for sports ( no image lag like LCD's) and a bit better for movies ( better black levels than LCD's) and also have a much wider viewing angle than LCD's.

However, LCD's consume less electricity, are lighter, and have less glare on the screen when watching in a room with a lot of ambient light.

LCD's used to have the upper hand in resolution (1080p) but plasmas are now comming out with 1080p also. Make sure when you compare LCD vs Plasma you compare at the same resolution.

Plasma is usually brighter at all angles, so that's nice. But they naturally degrade more quickly than LCDs. So an LCD may have a less consistent picture, but at least it will ast longer. On the other hand, since LCD sales vastly outnumber plasma sales, we might see a lot of plasma screens on clearance prices in the near future, as stores phase them out.
