I want to take an Exercise stress test as soon as possible. I was wondering if I can pay for one without having to be reffered by a doctor? and If so who would I contact to find out about booking one??

Most hospital outpatient departments can do stress exercise tests, but most of these require a physician, usually a cardiologist in attendance. Call the outpatient cardiology department. If successful, and no physician referral, you may need to pay cash up front, for without a MD referral, your insurance probably won't pay.

Hospitals used to offer stress tests at reasonable rates. I haven't seen this advertized in a long time.

Your question begs another question. For example if for day to day living it would be quite different to one for a highly endurance trained athlete. Try your nearest university that has a sports physiology department - they are often looking for "guinea pigs!"
