Hi girls

My wedding is only a couple of days away - 10 days to be exact :-) I'm going crazy looking for a template in order to have my seating chart done. I fell in love with having the seating chart framed, but I'm having difficulties starting this project. I want to have it done by this weekend, and finally get it out of the way. Do any of you know how much it would cost to get this printed either at Kinko's or Staples? What's the typical size if I'm having 150 guests? I've seen some examples done with PowerPoint, however, I can't seem to edit it and put my information. If anyone has a template I can use that would be great, or any suggestions on how I can start...?

Also, I'm doing my menus, and for some reason my appetizer is 'fresh melon' (don't ask), how can I word that in the menu card?

Thanks in advance girls

As far as the seating chart goes, you will need to know the dimensions of the hall and tables in order for it to be to scale. Any template that you find won't be exactly right because it wasn't drawn to the specs of your venue. I'm trying to find one for you but I think you should try contacting your venue to ask for a chart. It may get you started! My husband drew our chart in auto CAD... if you know anyone who can use that... ask them to! I would imagine it would be around $10 to print a large page at Kinko's.

As for the melon.. is it all one variety? You could just say "fresh honeydew" to avoid using the word melon. I actually think there's nothting wrong with saying "fresh melon" though.

I found a site that might be helpful:

Oh, I never thought of a seating chart. But, I strongly believe that those little name tags that say, "Mr. & Mrs. Humphrey and Sylvia Magoon: You are seated at table 7" are so cute and practical. It is so much easier to find your name in alphabetical order, than to search through tables of names on a chart, especially when one has difficulty reading small print, as some of the oldsters do. Think twice about this decision, my dear. You don't want hordes of people squinting for ten or 15 minutes trying to find their name on a chart. The little name tags are so cute, and you can have some cute broads or hunky dudes behind the table asking, "What is your name dear? Can I help you find your tag?"

I would avoid the use of the word "melon", the frat-boy mentalities in the crowd will just go crazy with that one.

"cubed seasonal fruit"
"fresh fruit cup"

As for the seating chart, I would personally make such a thing in PageMaker (but that's just because I have and use the program for work). You might get a good distance setting it up in Excel as a table, but printing it on fancy paper and *without* borders shown.

You need to ask your function hall about the seating chart, usually they have them pre printed and maybe you can scan it into your computer and play around with it.

I also like the suggestion of "fresh fruit" for the melon appetizer for your menu.

Good luck!
