I am getting a root canal at 11am on a wednesday, will i be able to come back to work to work until 5? I am in IT and i have sort of a desk job. I also have a help desk job, but i can pass those responsibilities off. If yes, then any recomendations to ways to make it easier to finish the day?

Sometimes the tooth is a little sensitive after the first appointment. You should be fine to go back to work. At your first appointment they should remove the nerve and that it what is infected and causing the pain. I had a root canal done when I was 16 years old and once they were done and all the numbing was gone my tooth felt great. You could also ask them to give you some extra Novocaine before you leave so you can be numb a little longer if you are afraid of having any pain. Good Luck and I am sure that ou are going to be fine.

Actually, I just had a root canal a couple of days ago and while it didn't "hurt" afterward, it was pretty tender for the next couple of days. Nothing that you couldn't go to work with.

No. They remove the nerve at that appointment so no more pain. BUT..the ligament that runs under your tooth will be sore so have advil on hand and take it as soon as you can after the appointment.

There may be the knowledge that something was done to this tooth, but there should not be a lingering pain that some folks experience.
You will be fine.

Nope, it doesn't.
I've gone to work after having one done. It's no more pain then a regular filling, but you will be very numb.

If it's no longer abscessed then he might well just extract it then and there.
