me and my friend make a prank call to someone we know, about 1 month ago we made the call on my friends cell phone and he made the number private. Today after like a month my friend calls me(the other one whos phone we did not use) and says some investigator called him and said if he knew my number and we did not even use my phone and he said the investigator said that like do you know (me) and like because he made a prank call and etc. the guy said that its the decision of the person who we pranked if they want to press charges!
is this something legit or is this just some fake friend that the girl has called up and just told him to ask if it was me?
even if the girl does press charges i did not call from my phone so what would happen?
should i be worried?

There are laws against making harrassing phone calls. What kind of prank call was made?
Did you threaten someone's life? Did you ask if the refrigerator was running?
No one will prosecute you if you did a funny harmless prank, but if you did something nasty or threatening, yes, you can be prosecuted.

You shouldn't make prank calls.. it can be disturbing to some people. If charges are pressed then you deserve it.. regardless if the call was made from your phone or not.. you were a part of the prank.. that makes you guilty... learn a lesson from this...

I think someone's pulling your leg. I don't think someone can press charges just for making a prank call. However, if you made more than one prank call to the same person I think you can be charged with harassment.
