Busy yourself. Find a hobby that will keep your mind off things. Something low stress, not intense first-person-shooter video games, that will have you jonesing. How about going to the gym? A few hours lifting weights will help clear your lungs, raise the heart rate and lift your spirits. (Exercise can also trigger a tryptophane like euphoria).
Try chatting online. You may find that conversing with other people, possibly going through the same thing, will help.
Get a fish tank! Dentist have fish tanks in the lobby to help people relax. The fluid movements, the freedom keeps people from worrying and anxiety about dental horrors down.
Medication, but that is something best decided with the help of your doctor. I'd only go this route when necessary.

I use to have panic attacks a few years ago. I wouldn't be able to breathe and it felt like I was going to die. It steadily got worse, as I started to fear getting them. First I couldn't leave the town I lived in to visit my parents, then I couldn't go to the shops then eventually I couldn't leave my house. At that point I started to research anxiety-panic attacks.
Firstly, YOU WILL NOT DIE. A panic attack doesn't cause your body harm, even though it may feel like it.
Secondly, BREATHE LONG AND HARD. Or better still cup your hands and breathe in to them. Breathing back your carbon dioxide helps the brain produce more oxygen.
Thirdly, KNOW THAT IT WILL NOT LAST FOREVER. I would have an attack continuley for hours which would leave me exhausted, but my fear in the attack only prolonged it.
When I understood that it wouldn't last forever, and I realised it would past, or if I breathed into my hands or accepted that I'm not going to die, every time I had one after that they become shorter and shorter, easier to cope with until eventually they stopped altogether. My last one was in 2002.
I hope this helps, and I know panic attacks are the worst feeling ever, but I am proof that you will over come them.

I am single mum. I have been suffering for panic attacks for some 15 years now, though it was not until recently I understood what they were. They were progressively getting stronger and more frequent, stopping me from some days even leaving my house. I read this book and it all made perfect sense.
I am not saying I was not terrified of putting theory to action, I was more scared of that than the next attack! But I decided to view it as a game, one I had control of and could therefore not lose!

anxiety or panic attacks are caused by a sudden release of adrenaline by the brain.....adrenaline is a very short acting hormone, making panic attacks self limiting. Maximum duration 20 minutes. So, when one hits, you sit, you breathe slowly and keep reminding yourself, the whole thing is self limiting and will pass soon. It does, and so you go on with whatever you want to do.

I used to have panic attacks and would hyperventilate. I really thought I would have them for the rest of my life. I decided I needed to see a psychiatrist and he put me on prozac. That was like 4 or 5 years ago and I havent had one since.

Anxiety Attack~~~~Control your breathing. Breath slowly and steadily. This will definitely help. It did for me.

Deep breaths but there is a proper way to do this.
Put one hand on your breastbone and the other on your stomach.
Breath such that your stomach moves in and out, not your breastbone.
This is relaxed bottom of the lungs breathing.
