First of all...in your boyfriends defense..I don't know that some of the websites concerning "background" checks are really that reliable.

However, many of the websites are based upon information gained through the Freedom Of Information Act and provide very basic information.

Theft is a criminal offense whereas a speeding ticket is a "violation." You could go to court on a violation offense but it's not necessary.

In a criminal case, such as theft, court is mandatory....there will be several appearances to include the arraignment, preliminary, plea day, or trial.

Theft cases aren't robbery! Robbery is with a weapon! Theft cases involve the taking of something with the intent to permanently deprive the rightful owner.

Maybe if you're afraid to talk to your boyfriend...and he's not telling you about this event truthfully...it's time to find a real man!

Best wishes.

Once I got a speeding ticket, that through a series of mishaps ended up going to warrant. The next time I got stopped I was arrested. When my girlfriend was bailing me out the cops told her that they couldn't tell exactly what the original charge was, but that it wasn't a mere speeding ticket and I was lying to her, etc. etc.

I have no idea what they were talking about. The only thing I can think of is that the place where I got the ticket was in a State park - so maybe it showed up as something other than a traffic citation.

He is lying to you about why he is going. A speeding ticket should never take more than two appearances if he is fighting it.

If he was speeding away in a stolen car, maybe he could say that was why he was stopped. He seems to have been charged with a felony. That is NOT from speeding!
