LOL! That's what we call it too. We are from Mexico and do not listen to this music.
It is mostly listened to by the farmers. Usually they celebrate after the long days in the fields 6 days a week for over 10 hours so that we can all have our 3 meals a day.

Illegals, huh? Boy, you sure are smart...

You know, I would have thought that people here illegally would want to be low key and not draw attention to themselves, but alas, your superior intellect has opened my eyes.

Thanks to you, I now realize that it's the legitimate American born Latinos that work under the table, don't pay taxes and send all their money back home, while the "ILLEGALS" are free to drive around in their new Cadillacs with their drivers licensees and insurance, blasting their $1500 sound systems to get everyone's attention, ESPECIALLY the police.

I have not heard any of this music. There are not alot of latinos in my neighbourhood or college dorm for that matter. Music in spanish... has nothing to do with the circus.

However if it is really loud past 11 oclock you can call the cops and they'll have to shut it off.

You know, I never got why it is called circus music. It sounds more like a polka to me.

It isn't my favorite, but hey, half the time I liston to country, so I'm pretty much shunned for my musical taste in any event.

What I can't stand is rap, or anything at all blaring outside of a vehicle's windows at a red light, loud enough to make their car shake.

edit - I agree with Carol about Salsa. My kids took salsa at a summer camp and they both had a great time (only one is a natural dancer, but I try not to let on.) "Hips don't lie" or some such was the show song they did at the end. Not circus music.

It sounds like you are referring to MEXICAN MUSIC.

Modern Mexican music falls into a few categories. The version most Americans hear is a genre called "Norteño" music because it originated in northern Mexico.

"Norteño" uses accordions, wind instruments, and some drums. The accordion came to Mexico via German immigrants in the 1800's. Germans immigrated to Monterrey, Mexico and started Mexico's beer industry.

They brought their German music and instruments with them. Mexicans then combined their "corrido" (ballad) traditions and today you get the "circus" music you were referring to.

Mexicans love "Norteño" music also because the songs are like Country music: there's usually a story of struggle, lost love, etc.

I hate it! Sometimes when I am next to their car, windows open, music blasting - I either give them a dirty look or I put in a CD with either Country/Pop music (that's what I have in my car) or Disneyland's "Electric Light Parade."

What amazes me is how they can stand it. Their "music" shakes my car and my windows are always up. They must be deaf with all that loud NOISE!

I hate it too. I also hate rap.Why do they even call it music?I'll take Rock, and Mozart myself.Even then for only a short time, silence is golden.seems people are afraid of the quiet,to much time to think I suppose.I think that silence speaks for itself.
