pagans tend to appreciate well-crafted (pardon the pun) works of imagination, it is true. But so do many Christians, atheists, Jews and others.

Some Pagans do some don't-same as any other religion.
Personally I liked the LOTR movies but the books were too hard to get into. However much as I enjoyed the movies they had nothing to do with my religion.
I do like some other fantasy style books too but again not really because of my faith though I think Pagans tend to be more able to relax and enjoy such books than your average fundie Christian lol.

Yes I'm sure there are a lot of pagans that are "into that fanasy/fiction type of literature" I'm one of them. That isn't to say that all pagans are into it but I'm sure they have their own preferences. Pagans for the most part believe in magic so naturally pagans are going to be attracted to anything that has a magical element to it whether it is fiction or not. So a majority of pagans probably are going to be into that sort of thing. But as with all groups theres always an exception or two.

I personally always liked sci fi and fantasy, but then I was allowed free run of the library at an early age, allowed to read almost anything I wanted. If my mom had doubts about it, she read it first and then said yay or nay.
But then a good horror book is just right sometimes, and a decently researched and written historical text is always great. Sometimes I read more history than anything else.
However, I have met many 'alternatively religioned" folk who can't stand fantasy books.

I never liked the Lord of the Rings when I read it back in the 60's. I do like fantasy and science fiction, but I was born a Pagan and I studied witchcraft under my Mother and Grandmother. Go visit my website and see what I like to read.

Lord of the Rings is great, and yes many pagans like fantasy books but it's not because they are pagan. Also, Lord of the Rings is symbolic of Christianity.

I like fantasy books, generally, but only if they aren't extremely serious. LoTR wasn't my style. The first book was too boring. I also love mysteries. And romance. And history.
However, I do enjoy Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl and other children's fiction/fantasy. :D

I used to love LOTR during the late 1960s. Nowadays I prefer Terry Pratchett, Richard Bach, Colin Wilson, Jasper FForde, Diana Wynn Jones, and that sort of thing when I'm reading that genre.

They're okay but I prefer non-fiction. I love history, archaeology, and culture. Yeah, I'm a little bit of a nerd in that way....
I also like the translated myths. I prefer to read the ancient myths as close as possible to the way they were written rather than reading re-tellings of myths. Many times people re-telling myths will add in their own biases and most times I like to interpret things for myself. Just the thought of people telling these stories for generations fascinates me. I'm sure that each generation had slightly different interpretations but still, I find it interesting.

Hehehe, guilty.... I love LOTR and Harry Potter and things like that. I tend to buy comparative religion books or fantasy books in general. Or mysteries, those are fun too. :)
