Someone by the name of Fed-up posting a heartwrenching plea for help in the form of a question asking why he should be considered selfish for committing suicide.

Why would Y&A delete that?

Aurora Dawn, I hope you're right. It was sad.

Hug Brigade (Great name by the way) no. It just said it was an invalid page. and then the question and my response was gone. It didn't say question deleted by asker (or whatever)

Jeremy: Someone did. The first response he got was something like "just shut up and do it already".

Snoopy: Thank you for your concern. I actually thought that worrying over this person was rather selfless.

I only hope that the person didn't carry out his threat. You know, a lot of people take these Questions and Answers very seriously. One shouldn't answer harshly to people that claim....

1) to be suicidal.
2) to have lost a family member or loved one.

Other things are more open to ridicule and "trolling", but those 2 things are kind of off limits.

Sometimes people are lonely and seek comfort by trying to obtain kind responses on the internet. That's why I won't ever harass someone who claims 1 of the 2 scenarios above.

If/when you ever learn more about the dynamics of suicidal ideation, suicidal gestures, attempts, etc. you will understand.

Until then, I'm not sure why you are trying to belabor fed-up's angst for your own purposes. Why must you put the person's name? It's selfish.

Add: you find it SELFLESS to start a question based on someone else's personal struggles? Have you considered that perhaps the poster removed it himself/herself?

Jerk.

I dont know.
But people who do say stuff like that need to be taken seriously. Sometimes you can dismiss them and it never really happens anyway.
But then again, I was very close to someone and he said it all the time. So I dismissed him and everyone else did too. Then one day, he came up missing and he had shot himself in the head and was found dead 3 days later. Animals had gotten a hold of him and it was awful...Moral:always take ppl seriously, you dont have to give them attention, but be attentive.

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, the providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way

Their rules stipulate that no frustration is accepted by them from the people asking questions and giving answers. That's why Y&A dare to delete whatever they find pessimistic. Only I am not sure whether this site is meant only for 100% optimistic and merry people.

It could be that he deleted it himself. If yahoo is aware of the question they may have contacted law enforcement in the town Fed up was and had them intervene. yes, yahoo can find and give out that information to law enforcement. I emailed yahoo onec about a suicidal teen and they were able to send help to her. I know they did get help to her because the girl followed up with me by email and I didn't let her know that I "turned her in".

Me thinks he created that post to prove a point. I have my doubts on whether he is actually going to commit suicide though.

Probably becuse they felt it was innapropriate material. Suicide is up there with sex, and such things. Its considered a personal choice and something you should probably be discussing with someone you acctually know. (in escence they may have been afraid some stupid jerk would tell him(or her) he SHOULD commit suicide)

Because someone's tiny, frail, weak sensibilities were offended, and they reported it as inappropriate rather than offer real kindness and help.

Pretty typical of people anymore - if I can't see it, it doesn't exist, so I need to make all the "icky" things go away.
