Why don't you go do something productive?

Because we are of the hopes that spreading our "message" will enlighten at least one person to think for themselves, something that scares the hell out of the religious folks.

I think some of them think its' necessary to pass on their enlightened views onto others.

Majority of them are here to laugh and say, oh look, how stupid you are.

The rare 2% of the folks are here to get some real answers to some questions.

While you're productively praying in the church, we're we're wasting our time curing diseases and discovering things that wouldn't have been imaginable 200 years ago.

I think that helping those who *are* interested in Atheism and debate or discussion of belief and disbelief are productive. If you choose to accept ideologies of any kind without discussion or debate then you are wasting your mind.

Given that many atheists know more about religion than many Christians, they are qualified to give educated answers

Because I'm looking for a Christian that actually has answers and doesn't just wave their hands and try to hide the questions with "faith".

I think waking people up from the delusion of religion is a totally valuable use of my time.
And I can do what I want, so :p

Atheists can also follow a religion. Take Buddhism for example. While atheists don't believe in "god", it doesn't mean they can't participate in the "Spirtuality" section.
