I think if a person is not ready for a lifestyle change, whether in thought or in action, every way of losing weight will be the wrong way. The exception would be if the person decides that he or she doesn't want to change their lifestyle but just wants to "peak" for a particular event.

the best way is exercise and eating right....I won't say diet because people have a preconceived notion of what a diet is and is generally believed to be short term. You are wanting a permanent solution to a serious problem. Therefore you are wanting a lifestyle change, not a temporary fix.
You should loose about 1 to 2 pounds a week. Eat the right kind of foods in the right portions and exercise for at least 45 minutes per day. Of course you will need to consult your doctor because there could be other underlying problems that could prohibit you from exercising this long.
Good luck with everything.
This will be a long hard journey, but the end result is well worth all the effort put forth.
Remember you didn't put the weight on overnight and shouldn't expect to loose it quickly either.
again Good Luck!

There are many right ways but there are also wrong ones. Lap bands and gastro bypass is showing a lot of long term effects (older people have a much higher early mortality rate) because people don't eat properly, have less stomach lining to absorb vitamins, minerals, etc, and are literally starving to death.

One method I've seen a lot these days for loosing weight in a very positive way is the raw foods diet. Basically you eat lots of raw fruits and veggies. I wouldn't suggest becoming vegetarianism, you'll want to read up on the pros and cons of that, but maintaining a high raw % (like 75-80%) a day, and avoiding bad combinations, like meat and starch.. the weight has melted from them in no time. Check it out.

A healthy balanced diet and exercise will work.

The average male/female needs 2500/2000 calories a day so in order to lose weight you qould be required to eat less than this.

If you don't want to count calories, a lot of slimming clubs use a points system and you can save points to have bonus treats at the weekend.

If you don't want to go to a club but feel you would still like to follow their plan a lot of clubs allow you to do it on line.

To lose weight eat healthy control your calorie intake and exercise.
It is important to change your lifestyle so the weight loss is forever. If you go on a fad diet you will lose a lot of weight, but will gain it back faster, and that is unhealthy.

It takes 3500 calories to lose one pound, track what you eat and drink, exercise 3 to 5 times each week.

Talk to your doctor about a healthy weight/lifestyle for you, or to a nutritionist..then in order to lose weight and keep it off, i would suggest eating a balanced diet, and exercising. Everybody has a different body, you just have to find whats the healthiest weight for you and what works for you.

Basically eat less junk and more of the good healthy stuff, and move/exercise more. We're not all built the same, so different diets work better for different people. But in general, more fruits, veggies, lean meats and milks, with less sugars and fats, combined with getting up off the couch more will do more good than nothing at all.

Its all about the math. 1 lb is = 3500 calories so that means you need to decrease your caloric intake and increase the rate you burn your calories. So combining eatings less with a cardio workout which burns calories actively and a strength training workout which helps burns calories while you rest is key. Eat less, do more before you know it you will shed the pounds. Good luck
