totally! Why baptise your baby, when you can wait until their on their death bed and be absolved of all their sin b4 they die, no matter what that sin was!!!! hey! if it was good enough for the Great Emperor Constantine it is good enough for your baby!

when John The Baptist practised his faith, he told his followers that the Baptism was to cleanse the body and spirit of all its sin, thus they would then have a fresh start and could live the rest of their lives as a christian in the full knowledge that they would get into heaven. Catholicism came up with the doctrine, that all humans are born sin full, due to the fact that we are born with no knowledge of God and Jesus, it is just propaganda, another way to control you.. I say go with John, he came first! and think of all the things they could do; like not go to church, eat at lent, believe in evolution, not put money in the poor box, read a non-religious book, wok on Sunday, use the Lords name in vain, ( are you catching my drift) then they would be baptized and all would be forgiven, its like a, Get Out of Hell Card.

Yes - I agree. Baptism is an outward expression of one's decision to burry the old sinful man and make the best effort to live a new life, a free life. Babies cannot make such a decision. They haven't really had a chance to experience a sinful life yet or realize the benefits of living for Christ. I personally didn't do it until I was ready at age 19. I could have done it sooner, but I didn't really understand the concept even though I was saved. Thank God I lived long enough to see 19.

yes I agree. Baptising babies is just forcing children into a religion they may not believe. Children should be allowed to choose a religion that suits them.

If the parents are Christian and real believers rather than merely church goers, there is a lot of point in getting a baby baptised. If you believed your child would not go to heaven if it died un-baptised you are not going to let it go undone are you? If you do not believe in a life hereafter, you are quite right, there is no point.

No, I don't agree.

If there is no point in baptizing babies, there is no point in baptizing anybody.

What do you believe baptism is? Is it some sort of "works" that you perform to prove you love Jesus? Is that why you think you need to choose it?

The Bible tells us that the Lord chooses us, not the other way around. We are helpless to get to heaven if He doesn't choose us. We can't earn our way there and we can't guarantee our way there by following some sort of formula.

Baptizing infants show just how helpless we are. God has to do all the work in saving us -- we can't choose it, we can't decide we want it done, we can't earn it, we can't guarantee it. Only God can do all that.

But we also know that God is completely merciful. An innocent baby brought to the Lord will NEVER be turned away! No, God will always bestow the full measure of His grace on a tiny infant. So let them be baptized and let them receive the fullness of Grace -- As Christ Himself said, "Suffer not the little children, but bring them to Me -- the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

yes, because the baby does not have the awareness to understand what is going on, and did not make the decision to do it, or accept the act. How can there be any validity to an act without comprehension or acceptance on the participants part? Why not baptise your unborn fetus...it has the same effect...

If there was no point in it, the Christian Church woiuld not have done so from day one. Of course, there is no point in it once you reduce baptism to the mere human act it has become in Protestantism. But when baptism is recognized as the transforming act of God that all Christians on earth realized until a few hundred years ago, then no-one would think of withholding this glorious sacrament from children.

There is no point in baptising babies, but what harm does it do?

I disagree. The weight of scriptural evidence outweighs the verses credo-baptists claim as justification for adult baptism, as far as I'm concerned. There are too many logical conundrums that arise when you forbid infants from the water that puts them into a covenant relationship with God.

I believe that the babies baptism is not merely for reasons of faith. I believe that in baptizing a child that your are presenting the child to God, and making a commitment (on the part of the parents) to provide a spiritual foundation for the future of the child.
