Any type of crusty discharge? If you have swelling, redness, and severe itching as well, it could be pinkeye, or severe allergies.
Go to the doctor today.
Don't touch your face, in case it is pinkeye - it is very contagious! Wash face and dry hands with a paper towel so you don't spread it.
AFTER you see the DOC:
he should either give you a prescription for antibiotic eyedrops, or recommend or prescribe some allergy meds.
You could wrap some ice in a small ziplock bag, and cover with a paper towel, to use as a compress for some relief.
If you do have eye allergies, buy some plain moisturizing eyedrops and use them a few times a day.

Rachael: The first thing to do is rule out infection. Does light hurt your eyes? If when you awake, you have yellow crust on your lashes or it is difficult to open your eyes, you could have an infection in the conjunctiva. This is the membrane that lines the eyelid. This is the infection people call "pink eye" because it makes the eyes very red. It is HIGHLY contagious. If you have the crustiness or notice pus-like material oozing from the eyes make sure you keep your hands washed, don't touch your eyes and get to the doctor or clinic ASAP. They will give you an antibiotic cream or drops to cure the infection. Because it is so contagious, you will need to stay home from school for a few days. A mild boric acid solution will help with the discomfort.
If there is no pus-like material or crust and the material coming from your eyes is thin like water, you are probably having an allergy episode. If it is worse in the morning, then it is probably dust mite. Dust mites are microscopic creatures that live in our beds and cause many people to have a variety of allergic reactions. The reaction can be anything from red, itchy, watery eyes to coughing, sneezing, wheezing, or eczema. If that is the case, your doctor can do a test to determine if it is allergy. He will also explain the steps to reducing your exposure to allergens in the bedroom.

See your doctor, he or she can tell you if it is allergies or an infection, and what is best to use, there are many OTC drops but prescription drops could be a better choice depending on diagnosis. Look at your environment, have you changed your shampoo, laundry detergent, fabric softener, cats or dogs sleeping on your bed?; do you have other allergies? Good luck!

You have pink eye, you probably didn't wash your hands and started touching your face. Wash your hands more frequently, start getting into habit on good hygiene. Go to the doctors, they can help with the swelling and pain and itch. Oh yeah, pink eye spreads fast, don't go near people
