I bet if you ask the dogs they would rather fight for their life rather than be killed by gas!

The humanity.

The shelter euthanized them peacefully. Vick was beating and brutally letting them bleed to death.

It is horrible to say, But the dogs were so horribly damaged and aggressive that unfortunately they had no choice but to put them down. The difference between Mike Vick killing them and animal control is, Mike Vick was doing it for a profit to make money exploit the animals and kill them if they did not stand up to the test. Animal control is doing this not because they want to , but because they have to. Some of these dogs are so badly damaged that they barley have a quality of life anymore, the other dogs are so aggressive and mean that you can not put them with a normal family. They are used to doing nothing but fighting for their lives. They have the taste of blood many times over and they just are not safe animals to have in a household anymore. They Don't know what they were taught was wrong, and it's not their fault, it is Mike Vicks and every other sicko who helped him run this ring by betting on these poor animals. In my opinion every person who bet on these dogs, or even had anything to do with this ring should have been brought up on charges of some sort . If you ask me Vick is getting off easy and definitely deserves a lot more than what he is getting!

First of all I hope Mike Vicks get a whole lot of jail time, and a ton of fines to go with it. Even though that isn't good enough. I think anyone who fights dogs, or kills any animal should be tried for MURDER!! People like Vicks are the ones that ruin a dogs personality. No, the dogs would not rather fight for their life. At least at the humane society, they go down without experiencing any pain. What is inhumane is the people who fight them.

I didn't read that, but if they put them down, then the dogs were injured beyond being able to be brought to good health, OR, what is more likely, they were so vicious that they were dangerous and could not safely be placed in any homes.

What you don't realize is that dogs like this will happily attack children and innocent dogs and other animals. They were made into murderers by the way they were abused. If they cannot be helped to become constructive members of society we have no choice but to put them to sleep.

Those dogs DID fight for their lives... when Mike Vicks owned them. And all they got for it was NOT life... it was prison and further abuse.

How would YOU feel if you were allowed to fight for your life, but never allowed to go free once you won your fight. Instead, you just had to keep fighting to try to stay alive and you weren't allowed to do anything interesting or fun... only allowed to fight and pray you survived once again. Why do you think that kind of life is better than a long nap that doesn't cause you pain ???? How is constant fighting and being hurt and beaten better than dying???

I haven't heard that these dogs were put to death yet. However, I doubt that gas will be used. Most likely, these dogs will be put to sleep using humane euthanasia by injection. Dogs are sedated in anesesia state and then are injected with the euthanasia substance. After working in a shelter for many years, I have seen my fair share of these fighting dogs and know the conditions that they lived in. I have also seen a rehabilitated dog attack and maul a shelter employee. No one wants to see these animals die, however, it is a humane and quick death and better than the quality of life that they had. Ignorant comments like yours are made because you do not know the entire truth. Would you rather be hung and tortured because you did not perform well? I seriously doubt it.

The dogs were humanely Euthinized and they were done so because dogs that have been faught are not safe to place in a pet home. It is very tradgic and if Mr. Vick would not of done this the dogs may have found a good homes for them. Would you want a dog that may try to kill you because that is what he was trained to do. Not me. I work with animal control and have seen many dogs be put down for this reason. It is very sad but the facts.

Vick wasn't arrested and convicted of killing dogs. He was arrested and convicted of being a racketeer, funding an interstate gambling operation, a class one federal felony. A person with an Italian last name would have gotten 10-20 years. In fact, one week after Vick was sentenced a guy in Alabama with an Italian last name DID get 10-20 for the same crime.

If his dogs were killed its only because he caused for it to happen. By training his dogs to be vicious and fighters they will never be able to be adopted to homes, they can hurt someone or want to kill their other pets or neighbors pets because that is what has been instilled in them by this man. Its much more kinder to humanley euthanize these dogs than to have them be tortured and elecrotcuted and fought like vick was doing. Its because of him all these poor dogs are dying its not the governments fault.

Michael Vick was given the chance to go to the shelter and claim his dogs- however, that's just like saying "HEY, I'M GUILTY!!!!!!" So of course he didn't claim the dogs and because they were taught to fight- they would be a danger to society to allow them to be adopted out. If Michael Vick hadn't trained the dogs to fight, they most likely would have been able to find homes.
It's not just his dogs that this happens to- if any dog shows aggressive behaviors (and the shelter attempts to correct it and they won't change), they are put to sleep because they can't be adopted out for safety reasons.

They were killed out of mercy because most of them were clinging to life from fighting. They aren't euthanized by gas. They are given a lethal injection which is what you should have for your stupid statement. Mike wasn't killing dogs, he was ILLEGALLY fighting and INHUMANELY disposing of them. Maybe Mike could put you in cage with a pissed off Pit bull and when you're near death, he can just throw you on a pile of other near death dogs. Dog fighting is illegal, cruel, and just plain insane

Which would you rather have, a quick and painless death, or a slow and painful one. Not all the dogs died in fighting, as I understand it many of them died horrible deaths just because they lost the fight. Dogs are not born vicious, they are trained to be that way. Unless you pull a dog from the wild as an adult, it will have whatever temperment it is given by it's owner.
