I am looking for an Italian grocery or market in Los Angeles, or cities nearby. What supermarket sells shallot?

Also what's the best brand of Olive Oil? Can you name a few?

There's bound to be an Italian deli in the big city of L.A. But don't disregard places like World Market, Whole Foods, or other gourmet-type grocery stores. They, too, can buy imported Italian foods.

As for EVOO, I like Alessi, Colavita, and Bertoli.

Shallots should be available in almost all major supermarket chains.....in the onion and garlic section of the produce department. Shallots are a very common ingredient.

I prefer Bertolli Olive Oil.

Italian cooking doesn't require a lot of exotic ingredients. Home made pasta is time consuming but quite easily made with a pasta machine. Olive oil, well, just check to determine where the olive oil was picked and packed always printed on the bottle!

all supermarkets sell shallots. they're with the onions and garlic. google or look in your yellow pages for "italian grocery".

if you don't want to shell out the BIG bucks, i agree with the colavita olive oil, and not dismissing whole foods.
