It seems to me that while there are varying degrees and types of each, love is an overused word, that at it's core means care. I can say I care about all of life, I care about someone I meet on the street, etc. But, when I'm talking to someone for whom I have warm love, when I say I care, it has a deeper meaning. It means that your well being and Spiritual growth matters to me on a very deep level. You matter to me. Implicit in "I care" is the willingness to do whatever it takes to promote your well being and Spiritual growth. That same message is implicit in "I love" but perhaps isn't communicated as effectively, since the word love is so overused.

You can care about someone or something and not love it. If you do love someone, then of course you care for them deeply.
