Half of these arguments against deportation sound just like the old slave owners. Apparently we need cheap foreign labor for good and bad economies! My state utilizes this and they deport aliens - they want American citizens to have the jobs. And that is why I moved here - I hate the higher taxes from subsidizing the invaders.

Yeah, but in the end doesn't ICE have to pick them up and deport them? And how much of that are they actually doing? ICE is only on track with the same number of deportations as last year, which was nowhere near maintenence given how many overstay and illegally cross every day. And Bush just transfered 1000 ICE investigation and detention officers to customs to inspect grapefruit or something.

He seems to think that if states 'pick up the slack' above what he thought was just fine to begin with, he should just move the federal assets that were there before to different use.

However, I think it would be a great idea. I just think there need to be requirements that the federal government actually follow up with it or reimburse the states to handle their own deportation of these people.

It would take forever. And if you did round them up and send them back who would do the work? Someone sitting at home in front of a computer all day won't help this economy and there is no need for ferengifighters anyway.

Probably a couple of years. Still though, it does need to be done. The illegal crimial aliens need to be deported.... We would save money in the long run.

It won't happen, but it might result in a lot of illegals being deported, if it did. That's the reason it won't happen.
