I have to go with Derrick .... there is some what of a debate.. but I have a Panasonic Plasma 42' and I have a HDMI cable that cost me $14 at Wal Mart. My friend came over and we decided to go ahead and see the difference.... There was none! To make sure go here and tell me what you think...

There is a debate that rages unanswered with HDMI cables right now...Some people claim that the $12.00 HDMI cables are as good as the $69.00 HDMI cables....The jury is still out...Play it safe and buy the SONY branded HDMI cable just to be safe.

Yes the HDMI is capable of pushing the audio if you set it up that way in the setup menus of the ps3.

mike has it spot on-monster cable is generally considered the best HDMI cable you can get-BUT!!! if the distance between your set and the PS3 is less than 1.5 metres or so then there is virtually no loss-so most cables (only the most inferior need not apply here) will suffice. HDMI will carry HD (up to 1080p) and 7.1 digital audio so no worries there.

The most expensive you can buy is Monster Cable (over priced but hey, if you want hard core crazy quality cable...it is the top of the line...and yes, it is over kill).
