Did Barcelona to Salou last week by train. It was €11.10 return and slightly less for a 15 year old.
All trains go to Barcelona Saints which is the main station and it takes 1 hour 20 to 1 hour 36 minutes.
The train also stops at Passeig de Graccia and some stop at Clot-Arago (excuse spelling as I have a poor photo copy of the time table)
Morning trains leave Salou at 7:07, 8:43, 10:13, 11:42, 12:00, 14:13. The trains also stop at Port Aventura station 3 minutes later. Depending where you are staying, this might be easier and quicker to get to.

There is a train from Plaza Cataluna ( centre of Barcelona ) to Salou. About 80 miles or so I think.
Check

English website Spanish train service.
You might need to get the train to Reus ( that's pretty close to Salou.
There will be a bus as well - public transport is pretty good down here.

Takes about 1hour 10 mins by fastest train....have to check timetables tho as some trains mean you have to change at Tarragona, and you have 2 stations in Barcelona(main and est).
Main is the one for the city center.
Was there in May this year and think I paid €14.50 return.
