New York Markets Are Enjoined To Redeem 240 Cans Per Visit NEW YORK -- A State Supreme Court judge issued a preliminary injuction ordering supermarkets here to obey the state's container redemption law and accept up to 240 cans or bottles per person per visit. The class-action suit was filed by six homeless persons against A&P, Food Emporium, Shopwell, D'Agostino, Red Apple, Gristedes and Sloan's claiming they were denied their right to return 240 containers by stores in each of the chains, and thus their livelihood.
