Error msg 1402 tells me that I don't have access to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSIONS\SHAREDDLLs, would someone tell me how to turn these permissions on?

Hi!

As far as I know this is a registry value related to software installs. It might occur if there is some misconfiguration for Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visual Studio or Adobe Acrobat.

This might also happen because there is some malware installed on your computer, that actually blocks the installer - since it uses it for its own dirty business.

There should, however, be absolutely no relationship between downloading and installing. For this reason I suspect the malware - viruses, trojans and adware.

You need administrative privledges to be able to do that.

Log in under the administrator and do it, or get with whoever has the rights to let you do that.
