heard about it when I was 5 when my Uncle told me about his job .

Edit - Actually Jeeper , my Uncle works there and continues to work there , granted its not called area 51 but it is real , to answer another poster - there is no prison there , its a place where Military Jets are tested and assembled and it is apparently a very large facility , My Uncle would not go into any details . He did say the new B2 was made and tested there however .

I heard about it when I was around 8 or 10... Whenever Independence Day came out, I thought it was part of a movie but as I got olde even around 5th grade friends and I talked about with a serious tone. Its a big sercret that almost nobody knows anything about.

Age 21, initially it was where they kept interesting medical specimens now it's just for housing those that are considered a threat by being too active in opposition to national policy positions. It's just another special prison site now! Care to visit, I can arrange that you get the special tour!

It is a made up thing by the conspiracy theorist.

Now there is a Groom Lake facility.
