What if I change my mind and decide I want to believe, but god has already hardened my heart? How is that fair? I see murderers get god and not me?

Something tells me the only lie is the one you tell yourself every night before you go to bed. The one that allows you to maintain the delusion.

Sounds to me more like common sense, logic and reason have hardened your mind against gullibility.

The hardening of the heart is a conditioning
many people go through when they are denied
something they wanted very badly, which they
felt entitled to.
God understands His creation and take responsibility for it.
But by choice, we are the ones who allow this condition to take affect.

God is more than fair, He has made a way for
us to escape through His Son Jesus Christ.
See John 3:16

the choice is yours to harden your heart towards God.

God does not harden your heart to reject Him.

this is what Paul wrote to the Colossians:

Colossians 1
19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

you have the power to receive or reject Jesus the choice is yours friend.

After the sin of Adam and Eve, everyone's heart is in rebellion. There is no one who seeks after God.

Why are you afraid of taking responsibility for once in your life time ?It's funny to see a person holding God responsible for loss of his faith in Him or are you keeping some kind of cushion in case things don't work out in your favor ?

God warned us that there is a limit to how far we can ignore His pleading to us.

And when we pass that point, He allows us to go unhindered on our way (which leads to Hell).

God honors our choices. If you consistently push Him away, eventually He will give you exactly what you've been wanting...to be away from Him, and the knowledge of Him.
If you seek Him, He will show Himself to you.
Completely fair.
