Is they learning, or is they ain't? Ah it's a question for the ages.
When I was in school, the Theory of Evolution was taught as a Science.
For religion to be taught, a handwritten, signed note from both parents sighted by the teaching staff had to be provided.
At the age of 8, having been taught that we were created by God and had not evolved from apes, I refused to sit in Science class and basically be told that my parents were liars. Especially when no opposition argument was being offered in the same class.
Needless to say, this made me quite a handful for the teachers. But they dealt with it because I was an excellent student.
If both are Theories, then teach both or teach neither.
I ended up being allowed to sit out the Science classes.
So - what did I learn? I learnt that you can stand up for yourself and your beliefs (or at 8 - your parents beliefs) if you have a good reason for it.
So - the moral is - did I learn anything? Yes I did.

NO-ONE teaches that we evolved from monkeys! But we do know for a fact that living species evolved from pre-existing species that are now extinct. That's why we teach this to children - because it is the truth, and withholding the truth from children just creates ignorant children, many of who will grow into ignorant adults. The fact of evolution doesn't conflict with the fact of Creation. It simply describes how already created living organisms changed over time. It is the means through which God brought into existence those species living today. It is also the means through which God provided for living creatures to adapt to an ever-changing world.
Incidentally, I am NOT a "liberal". Quite the opposite in fact.

I don't believe that we came from monkeys, but I do believe in evolution. I know that God created adam and eve and those were the first humans. but more importantly those were the first creachers that had the spirit of God in them. I do believe that there were Homoerectus, and other creatures that evolved from monkeys. A very long time ago. But they were not human. I feel evolution is a key part of Gods plans.
Lets imagine God is a Computer programmer. Just like he built this universe, this world, like-wise the computer programmer built a computer. Now this certain computer was very nice. It took a while to build. But unfortunately, through time something went wrong. Maybe it was small and not too big of a deal, but it still happened. Not because the computer was flaud, but because sometimes things just happen. Dust gets in, it gets wet, etc. So the computer programmer goes in and in no time fixes it. It wasn't a big deal. Throughout time it happens again, and again. not getting worse, but simply small things go wrong. Now lets take another direction. God is still a computer programmer in this, but this time He builds a computer that is very smart and well made. He creates it and as time goes by something goes wrong with this one. Now this time The programmer does nothing, but the computer he created is able to fix the problem on its own. It changes slightly. To accommodate what had gone wrong. And throughout time it changes and adapts to the different problems and situations that occur. Now... I feel that the computer that changes on its own would be far greater then the one that needs to continually be fixed. and I think the programmer that built the computer that changed would be far superior than the one that made the computer that constantly needed changes. Like-wise. God is all powerful. He does not need to keep sticking his finger in the mixing pot to keep it going. I am, also, in no way saying God is not perfect. I am only saying we are not perfect. Trees are not perfect, animals are not perfect. And need to do whatever it takes to survive, to change and adapt. Not believing in evolution is saying you believe in that computer programmer who did not make something so great that it can change itself and become greater, something that can adapt to its surroundings. But instead made something that always needs fixing.

I could say, " why are conservatives stupid, and ignorant, when it comes to science, but I won't! This is R&S, not politics!
I believe in the Bible, but I also understand that fossils, and other findings, prove the inconsistencies with it! So what?
I have no idea of what God's time line is! I have no idea of when, He did what! Or how! Who is to say that evolution is not by intelligent designed?
What children are learning in school should be science, and all of its wonders! Religion should be taught at home, and at church!

Children should be protected from their hokey theories.
However, much of the education regarding science, does not revolve on this issue. I took a number of science courses in college - and if you put aside their theories which contradict the Bible, there is still good deal you can learn. The science that is well taught is present day observable science were they can actually test their theories. It is the non-observable science (or calculated science dealing with the past) where they run into problems.

I seriously doubt liberals, or anyone else, teaches such an absurd thing. Its certianly not the basis for the theory of evolution.
I think your delusions are getting really severe. Are you still taking your meds?

....is the children learning?? Wooooow! I think you need to ask yourself if you've learned anything.
The bible doesn't prove anything. All it is is a book that's been heavily edited.
