factory DVD's can be easily duplicated to a DVD-R using DVDShrink:

VHS and DVD recorders have detectors which will not copy write-protected materials. This would very likely be the case with a factory DVD (almost 100% sure) and, surprisingly, some TV shows are now being broadcast this way, too (all on cable/satellite).

Sure, If you have the right software. There is a lot of software out there, DVD Shrink is just one example.

for number 1- if u copy from VHS to DVD, then discard ur VHS tape, its legal. for number 2- selling the VHS tape is sooo legal!
