Those are people that might have been in a very bad situation and their beliefs in God and all those prayers saved their lives. That was the only hope they had to concur their own misery without having any support from anybody else. I think those are very week people and very influential and need a strong support group to keep them going an on the right pass somehow. If they loose sight of their beliefs, they are going down again.

No, an animal doesn't loathe itself. It just lives its life in the natural world and then ceases to exist. Apart from God, humans are just animals. If a rabbit gets killed by a car, it is no big deal because a rabbit has little inate value. Apart from God, humans are in the same category.

I would say it does imply a lack of self worth. What worries me is, if a person says this do they think those who do not believe in god have no value? If such person has no value they are fair game, true?
