Actually there are over 20 different Catholic Churches that make up the worldwide Catholic Church.

In addition to the Latin Rite (Roman) Catholic Church, the Eastern Rite Catholic Churches are in full communion with the Pope, and are part of the same worldwide Catholic Church.

Eastern Rite Catholic Churches include:

Alexandrian liturgical tradition
+ Coptic Catholic Church
+ Ethiopic Catholic Church

Antiochian (Antiochene or West-Syrian) liturgical tradition
+ Maronite Church
+ Syrian Catholic Church
+ Syro-Malankara Catholic Church

Armenian liturgical tradition:
+ Armenian Catholic Church

Chaldean or East Syrian liturgical tradition:
+ Chaldean Catholic Church
+ Syro-Malabar Church

Byzantine (Constantinopolitan) liturgical tradition:
+ Albanian Byzantine Catholic Church
+ Belarusian Greek Catholic Church
+ Bulgarian Greek Catholic Church
+ Byzantine Church of the Eparchy of Križevci
+ Greek Byzantine Catholic Church
+ Hungarian Greek Catholic Church

Any other socalled "Catholic" churches are not in communion with the Pope.

With love in Christ.

You know, coming from the Philippines, with a tradition and reputation of being deeply religious, conservative, and predominantly Catholic, I always view with some concern, any church with a very long name!

We call ourselves 'Catholics', and yes, we are Roman Catholic, meaning we follow the Latin RITE. We do not have any doctrinal difference from the Eastern Rite Catholics, who also call themselves Catholic. We all claim loyalty to the Holy See, and the Holy Father.

The Anglican church separated from Rome with Henry the VIII, and they are Protestants. I don't know what old catholic, nor American catholic means.

And yes, be wary of anyone saying he/she is not under Papal authority! Even the Eastern Churches acknowledge the Pope!

the anglican church is not anglican catholic...

The Roman Catholics are under papal authority, and you can just ask "do you listen to the pope?" if they say no, then they're not under papal authority....
