Something you should know before using a baby walker:
The arguments against baby walkers all involve their safety:
more than 14,000 children under age 15 months have to go to the emergency room because of injuries related to using a baby walker each year
34 children have died from using a baby walker since 1973
even with new voluntary safety standards, children continue to be injured using baby walkers, even when they are supervised
And unlike what many parents believe, using a mobile baby walker won't help your baby learn to walk any faster, it can actually interfere with the learning process.

If you have steps it is better to not use a walker. There have been studies that suggest that using walkers causes a baby to walk later, but that is not true for all babies. My step-son walked at 7 months and my sister walked at 9 months and they both used walkers. Keep the walker away from the kitceh...especially the stove. I would not put a baby in a walker before at least 6 months.

They have walkers for all ages. Just make sure to supervise the younger they are. They have awsome walkers that actually grow with the babies. I would shop around and read on the box what they say is the best age. Good Luck!

As soon as my son was holding his head up and could roll over I put him in an exerciser that has some wheels on it that I could scoot him around the house with me as I did chores. Sometimes I would use the walker. He loved to watch me work and I would just talk and he would talk back

What is most important is that the child can sit up on their own before you ever consider the walker. The whole deal about children walking later, because of a walker is bogus. All of my mother's children were in one and walked right on time.. my brother walked at 8 months. Just remember that you have to supervise them at all times and of course, it is a no brainer... not around stairs or anything dangerous.

I do daycare for a physical therapist's child - she asked me not to put her child in a walker- because it affects how they walk etc - apparently not good for them...I don't know..my kids always had walkers...and they are just fine!
I think i'd wait alittle bit longer if she is only 4 months old - wait until she can sit up better--for now, i'd just use a baby swing.

I actually put my son in the walker as soon as he was holding my fingers and standing on his own. he may have just sat there but then soon he started learning he can push it along... in no time he was lifting the walking and walking all by himself with it

You can put her in now, i put my son in at 4 months!! He loved that stupid thing!! Plus it gives you time to get things done, you can put the baby right next to you while you are doing chores, just put a couple toys.
It really helped me for 2-3 months until he learned how to crawl.

it depends on the child really, but i would say that 5 mo. would be an appropriate age to start. my kids were around 4-6 mo. wen we first put them in a walker/jumper.
