There definitely are. Some people babysit in their homes for children of moms who work outside the home. Other people have ebay stores. And some do other types of work, usually something they have done before in an office.
I know four people who work from home. Two are moms of young kids - one has her own PR company (did this for several years, before the kids arrived), the other does web design work.
For the other two, both now work at home doing jobs they formerly did in offices, for the employers whose offices they worked in.
If you are talking about the ones you see on the internet or from people posting here with links to sign up, they are pretty much all scams.

the 1 800 flowers has work at home job for major holidays. incoming call orders. do not know of any steady ones unless you get a job at a company and telecomute. thanks.
