I like your question, though this is perhaps because I have misunderstood your point. The "available evidence" threw me, as I assumed only an atheist could say something like that without an apparent shred of sarcasm!! (Although no atheist could bring themselves to say something as meaningless as "the truth of god", so I am at something of a loss really!)
I take your point to mean: How can so many religious people be so firmly entrenched in their views that they see new religions as ridiculous cults, yet omit to question the dubious origins of their own beliefs? The Romans were pretty convinced in their gods, and thought Christians were crazy. When will the ceration of new religions ever really end though?

Okay this is the Good News! Jesus died on the cross for our sins.....This washed away our sins. God Created the heavens and earth....he also created the solar system. Our God is a loving God he loves us so mush that his son died and his blood washed away our sins? No one is perfect! At least not since Christ died.....God wants us to be kind to our neighbors and to help those in need.....People read your Bibles learn the word of God and know that he does not give us more pain than we can handle if anyone is in doubt I will pray for you as I do every night! Yes, we can declare any new religion as false. How far should it be backdated? I'd say 10,000 years.

There is only one truth and only one organisation that lives by that truth by preaching the good news of the kingdom over the entire inhabited earth as Jesus and his followers did from house to house and city to city.
Neither do they war with the flesh nor are they part of this world that is under the authority of Satan. (2 Cor 4:4)

Religion: “The belief in, worship of, or obedience to a supernatural power or power considered to be divine or to have control of human destiny” is one definition.
As I have no belief/trust in the above I have no need to back date!
Religious beliefs appear still to be the root of this world‘s sufferings!

Unfortunately, we do not have evidence about the truth of God as presented in the bible. We only have belief (actually faith/believing) and a hope for eternal life.

it should be backdated 2000 yrs! now that the truth about religion has been set free, the whole christian faith is unnecessary.
