Nope. Christ came to bring the truth and to reunite sinful man with a righteous God.

No, he didn't come to make peace on earth. He came so that we can have peace with the Father. Luke 12:51 says, "Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to bring strife and division!" The world will never be at peace until Jesus comes again and we all live in the New Jerusalem....see ya there!

Christ was a righteous and noble soul whose purpose of coming to this earth was to promote brotherhood and peace on earth. It was so ironical that Christ was crucified so violently by those who were ignorant. Christ's greatness lay in the fact that he forgave his tormenters thus leaving such a lasting message of forgiveness through which all true christians and humanity at large draw inspiration.

Both!
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (Matthew 10:34)
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: (Hebrews 12:14)
It all depends on each situation. We can't put all the eggs into one basket. Some situations require peace, others require war.

Yes, Jesus came to bring good news and peace on earth.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you:
not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 2 John 1:3

No. He did not come to the earth to bring peace, but a sword. And that's what you see here in YA R&S.
Matthew 10:34 and following says:
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn
" 'a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -
36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'"

I believe His exact words were (translated into English): "I came not to bring peace, but a sword... ...and a man's enemies will be of his own household"
He taught peace, problem is His teachings tend to show forth the errors in ones belief system. Be it Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Jewish or "Other": The traditions of man seem to wilt before the perfect Laws of Peace.

According to the Bible Christ said that he came with a sword, not with the intentions of causing peace. I think he came here to straighten up some really screwed up thinking, and that he expected this to cause more strife, not less.
may peace be with you

no, He came to tell of His Father, God.
And how to get to Heaven when we die.
He came to Earth knowing that He was going to die on the cross for us--for our sins.
And how our peace comes from knowing Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
So, I guess, yes, peace on Earth and Good Will towards men.
