Why are Britain so left behind in the space hunt? Why havent we turn up with a manned mission on the moon, like the americans, the russians or even china lately?

Because you haven't had a great ruler since Elizabeth the first. I believe if you had her in this age you would have been to the moon, conquered it, and colonized it.

1. England isn't Britain, it is a part of Britain.
2. With 11-year olds being shot dead on the streets who cares about the moon?
3. Don't listen to 'em' down there- no great rulers since Elizabeth I?! What about Victoria, who practically built our once-great Empire?!

Whats the point in wasting the money the US has been there and done that, there is nothing of interest on the moon for us.
The Chinese are following their own space programe as are the Russians when they can cadge some dough of a sponser.
AND WHAT has your whinning to do with the MILITARY section.

I really can only speculate. Britain led the world in developing technology during WWII. It has the scientists. Perhaps Britain has no real desire because of the tremendous costs of a space program.

Want to know why ----- $$$$.
Take a look at Europe in general (add Canada to the list also). Your social programs cost a bundle. Your governments can't support social programs and military and scientific research at the same time.
