DON"T give up!! Even though if you are extremely depressed the last thing you want to do is talk to someone, talk to someone. Find a phone and call the suicide hotline in your community. If that isn't possible, (it probably is) go to your closest emergency room and tell them the extent of your depression. Find a church, a shelter, an outreach clinic, a friend, or family member and tell them what is happening. Find someone. Remember that your perceptions right now are most likely a little distorted because of the depression so your decisions may not be the best. I understand, I have been exactly where you are in terms of depression, uninsured, and thinking of ending it all. Keep in mind that while depression is temporary and will be resolved, being dead is forever. Best of luck and take care of yourself.

Apply for medicaid which will cover this. if its that severe, check yourself into a hospital that does charitable care. They may write off the whole bill or at least some. Then you will be refered to an outpatient treatment program with a social worker who can help you with the paperwork. A lot of places will go by how much you make and charge you accordingly. Go to Health and human services. Its a great place to start. Give them all your info so they can process your application quickly. It may anly take a month to get what you need. Now get going so you can be on the road to wellness!

There are a lot of free clinics. Look in the front of the phone book for a suicide hotline number. They should be able to give you the name of a free clinic in your area. In major cities Emergency departments often have an area for emergency mental health. You could also try calling your local ER and ask if they have an EMH department that could give you a referral to a free mental health clinic. DON'T GIVE UP!!! There is help out there!

Good LUCK

Here are some things you need to know
1) When you walk-in or present yourself to a hospital ER, (my understanding is) they are not to refuse you service.

2) Every county in this country is (suppose to) have public Mental Health services or clinic - not free, but accessable, and with emergency services. You should qualify.

3) In every county is Human Services / Social Services, with a program called Medicaid -- In California MediCal
This is for people with no or low income, to pay for medical, dental, or hospitalization or mental health.

Any Church would be available to have someone to speak with you

God be with you. Life is worth living.

It's already been said but God can help.

Visit a local church... speak with a priest or pastor... they are certified counsellors (and are free). You'd be amazed how your life can change with God in it... and I'm not trying to be funny or preachy!

My husband suffered with SEVERE depression too before we got together... he even tried to kill himself... he was into a lot of dark things Major drugs, Alcohol, Partying, he was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, he was unemployed for a long time, etc... then his life changed when he watched this one show on TV that was saying how God can help you change your life around. He watched it more, then opened up a bible he'd had sitting on his book shelf and started reading it...

The point is, his life changed... when at one point it was almost over... for good.

God can help my friend. Visit your local Church and tell them you WANT and NEED help... they will be there for you... I promise this to you.

how much money do you have? can you afford marijuana? i had severe depression for years, on and off paxil for years, councellors, groups, everything. then i discovered herb. my life completely changed. it wasnt just because of marijuana. marijuana made me relax, made me realize we are all so special, even me. then i expanded into meditation, different kinds of music, i started to experience life in a different way. i am happier now then i ever was on paxil. i believe in the power of the mind. seriously, try meditation and calming. then pump your head full of positive thoughts. the next step is to make goals. even small ones. trust me, you will be so much happier with out those meds. you just have to stay positive. mind over matter and positive are the most important words in my vocabulary. if you have a close friends to talk to or someone who has gone through the depression that helps too. it helps you realize you dont have to be this upset. your life is beautiful and you should cherish it. your life is what you make it. if you would like to talk to me, feel free to message me. if not, i understand and i wish you luck. just remember to be positive =)

Hi - I am not an expert but you may want to try some of these ideas:

There are hotlines that are set up in certain areas for people to talk for free.

There are open churches that you can go and just sit in peace or go and talk to someone there - you don't have to be religious to just try it.

Any friends or family that you feel close too, you could try talking to them just to get your feelings out.

I have seen open clinics that treat people cheaply that do not have insurance, however you may have to wait a while in order to be seen but it may be worth it to you.

Look online regarding shelters or services available in your area.

I think one of the most important things is not to isolate yourself but to try speak to someone about your feelings. I hope you will try at least one of these, hopefully it may do some good. :)

You can apply at your county office for medical help. They can help with getting cheap or free medical treatment. Let them know that you don't feel like sticking it out anymore, and they should help you.

Hang in there hon. I've been where you are, and nothing sucks worse. You just have to survive day by day. When you get on meds it makes it alot easier to deal with crap that happens. Eventually most people can stop taking them, and be alright. Take care!
