Hi, i have honey and copper higlights and my hair is dark brown, i got the professionally done a few months ago but havent been able to go back to the hairdressers (way too expensive, im a student). I have over an inch of roots but its not too obvious. what can i do to either get rid of the higlights, or get another set of highlights done, but no honey colour, its too blonde for me.

ps, im absolutely clueless about hair products, styling and things of the sort.. please explain answers....

well it seems that your highlights haven't been all bleached of the natural underlying pigment and you still have your red undertones (i am just going by the words "honey" and "copper" which implies a lot of red) so you are free to just purchase a colour that is closest to your natural colour as possible and apply it as per directions.

I was listening in to a conversation at my hairdressers last week where they were discussing how to get rid of colour you don't want. Apparently if you use Head & Shoulders shampoo for a while it strips the colour out.

If you just want to colour over it, then you could try the home colour kits you can get in Boots - things like Nice 'n Easy, mostly by Clairol or Loreal. Ignore the colour of the model's hair on the front of the box and read the bit at the back where it shows you the effect of the colour depending on what colour hair you started with. If you're as klutzy as me, make sure when you apply colour that there's nothing in the vicinity you don't want to get stained...

Sometimes hairdressers offer cheap highlights because they're training someone up. Not sure how safe that would be, though!

the cheap easy way is to buy hair color at your local convenient store (dont choose a color too dark, because they always come out darker than what it says on the box, plus choosing a color a TINY bit lighter than you roots will seriously darken ur "too-light" highlights and tone them down so they look very natural and blend in with your roots. BE CAREFUL not to choose a color too dark. You may end up with a dark dull all over color which can be way too harsh! If you choose to take this course, have someone help you apply it!... the only other choice is to find a hairdresser close to you, wait for an appt. and spend big bucks. goodluck!

You can get home highlighting kits which are not expensive. Come with the cap and everything so you can't mess up. Alternatively use the cap and buy just a plain hair dye of what colour you like?

The cheapest solution in the long term is to get a professional to dye ure highlights their original colour so u won't have to worry about them again!

you need to buy some hair dye and dye over it. This will blend most of the hair together into one shade.

If you want different highlights, than get lowlights. Ask a professional and she will help you to choose which lowlight would be best.

good luck!

for me it depends upon the girl. Like I might notice a girl with black hair and also think she is totally hot but see a girl with blond curly hair that is meh and vice versa.
