it just depends on the baby. some babies dont get satisfied on just milk.. my son was 2months. he was always hungry. so i gave him a bottle with a lil bit of cereal.. my daughter was about 4 months. to give then a bowl of it thats thick with a spoon i would say at least 5months old. but to help fill them up in a bottle just a couple of teaspoons with their milk will be ok.

4 & 1/2 months, when the breastmilk and formula were not taking care of his hunger anymore.
You're going to get a lot of people on here telling you to wait until at least 6 months of age to start solids. In my child's case, & for just about every other baby I've known, it wasn't possible to wait that long because my son was just SO hungry. I consulted my doctor first and since he gave me the green light I went ahead and started cereal, with no regrets.
My advice to any new moms out there who are questioning whether to start solids is to listen to your instincts and your doctor. Every baby is different.
Good luck!

I started mine at 6 months and 5 months. My oldest was 5 months when we started her on cereal, she was being fed formula. My youngest was 6 months and was still only getting bresastmilk so he didn't need cereal as early.

I started all three of mine at 6 months. It was their first solid food. If they tolerated it well then we moved on to fruit and veggies etc. They all liked the rice cereal best.

5 months. He started crying for more milk and he wanted bottles more frequently. I just took it as a sign he was ready for something more filling. He didn't like it at first. I started mixing it up with his formula. I'd also mix it with baby food fruit. He got a taste for it and weaned himself down to half the bottles he was taking before. Just use your baby's appetite and actions as a signal he/she is ready.

all 3 of my children, now 6, 7 & 16 were given cereal at 2 wks.
Thanks for all the thumbs down, I expected them. My children were all healthy and slept threw the night as infants. So I wouldn't have changed a thing.

I had big babies and believe that they need to eat sooner. I do not think that all babies can wait until 6 months to eat. My first daughter who weighed 8-1 began cereal at three months... my second who weighed 9-9 ate her first cereal at six weeks, and my third child, my son who weighed 9-5 ate his cereal first at eight weeks. I never gave it to them in bottles....they ate it right off of the spoon with out any problems. They did not even spit it out alot. They ate it up. That is the ages that they ate eight ounces every two hours and they were still hungry.
