Go to a site like Adorama and use their locator software to find a tripod with the features that you are looking for then sort by price and find the best in you price range. In general you should be willing to pay at least $50 - $100 to get a decent quality 'pod. I have had good luck with Bogen-Manfroto, Slik and Velbon brands.
Remember you are putting a valuable piece of equipment on the tripod, it doesn't pay to be too cheap...
Hope this helps. Email if you have specific questions about a tripod or feature.

Visit your local camera store and look at the tripods they offer. Stay with the brands already mentioned - Slik, Manfrotto, Bogen, Velbon. Buy a tripod that "fits" you. If you're tall you don't want one that's too short. If its too short, you'll either never use it or be tempted to extend the center column - which should be avoided.. A really good fit is one that extends taller than you. Why? Because then you don't have to use it fully extended and that improves the stability.
If the tripod you choose offers accessories like a carry bag or a strap, buy it. You can fashion a strap yourself if you want.
Avoid department store no-name tripods. They are cheaply made and flimsy. A waste of money.

If you want cheap you can go to Wal-Mart or Target. If you want better quality than that, maybe pro level...checklout www.samys.com They have an awesome collection of photog stuff.
For pro level Bogen is the best. You'll have to buy the legs and head separate.
Make sure whatever type of tripod you get thatit's tall enough. Some are short. It does no good to waste money on one shorter than you.

Wal Mart, K-Mart, Sam's Club, Sears and Target all sell them for about $20/30 on up to.....I'd say $50 tops. After you spent all that on such a good DSLR why buy a cheap tri-pod, about 25 years ago I got a SILK U-212 and still have it today. I sold both of my Bogen's (and one dolly).

I agree with the brands the previous poster mentioned but I would say AVOID Adorama.
They often try to "upsell" you ... I have had them email me saying there was a problem with my order, only to find out they were holding the order just to try to convince me to add stuff I didn't want or need.
B&H photo or your local Ritz is a fine place to shop.
