In the holidays my brother got his ears pierced. (Both)the first day back at school he was told he had to take one out by a teacher. Is this not descriminating against him because he is a boy?Girls can wear too earrings and know there are no hard and fast rules of fashion to say that boys can only ever wear two. The earrings were not offensive in any way and other pupils are allowed to wear some makeup and items expressing their religious beliefs. Surely two earrings on a well behaved boy shouldn't bea problem.

That sounds like discrimination to me. If pupils are generally allowed to wear jewelry I don't see why your brother couldn't wear both his earrings. The same rules should apply for everyone, otherwise it's discrimination.

Many schools have dress codes. (Especially private schools). Your brother may unknowingly be in violation of one of them. (I know of schools that only allow one earring on a boy but girls can wear fifty if they'll fit. It doesn't make sense but there you are)
Now, if the school has no policy about jewelry on boys then that's a different story. In that case SHOULD he be allowed to wear two earrings that are respectful? Yes. But on the other hand, your brother has to choose if this is a hill he's willing to die on. Yes, he could fight it and make a huge issue of it, BUT that might not be the best way to start the school year with a new teacher.

Check the rules at the school and see what it says regarding boys and earrings. If there is none, he can wear both if he wants. If there is, he needs to read that rule and abide by it.

But, IMO, the teacher should not have done that.

The request was rather silly. I would check the school manual and explain to the teacher if that is not among the rules.

If it isn't against the school's policy the teacher has no right to ask him to do that. Check your school manual.
