It is true. And the commander was indeed taken off his post. I live in Minot and I knew on Friday that something big had happened, but nobody was allowed to talk about it. Even my friends who had their weekend screwed over because of the investigation weren't allowed to know what happened, and they work on base. I don't know how it could accidentally happen, but it happened nonetheless.

As a former 31650 Missile Systems Analyst.

I find it hard to believe that people could have messed up big enough to load nuc cruise missiles on a Buff.

The chain of events for that to have happened, is just beyond belief.

You would be talking about first, the WSA ( weapons storage area ) losing track of the warheads and not knowing they were loaded on those AGM-86's.

The security forces not knowing which weapons bunkers were accessed to move those weapons.

The security forces not knowing that warhead's were being moved, so no security convoy's when the weapons were moved from the WSA to the flightline.

The weapon load team, not knowing the weapons had warheads, or if they realised the weapons had warheads, then why didn't they wonder where security was ?

If it is true, the wing commander, MMS commander, SF commander along with a bunch of others, are now looking for new jobs on civi street.

Meh, not a big deal. Obviously someone loading up the jet was left out of the loop. But now, because the media got to it, people are going to be scared and be like, "OMG! What would have happened if they ALL fell on my house and ALL exploded??? We can't have military planes flying around here anymore". I can't wait.

How does one "mistakenly load" nuclear warheads onto a bomber?

I worked around nukes years back..
I don't think that it really happened.

Edit;
First off the people that speak to reporters "on condition they remain anonymous because they were not authorized to discuss the incident." should be prosecuted.
It sounds like action has already been taken against folks that were at fault with loading the weapons.

The military doesn't make mistakes. They make tactical decisions.
One of the commanders probably said something like he was going down to New Orleans to get bombed and someone thought he said he was going to bomb New Orleans.

James stop posting the same questions more than once it makes you look dumb.

Go back to your computer games.

Dear James, I dont hate video games just the people who judge the current military standards by what they see on their computer screen and without them knowing what life is like in the REAL world.
