You should have your bp checked. If your heart rate is that high while at rest, something is up.

Exercise lowers the heart rate.
A fast heart rate is called Tachyarrhythmia. There are two types of fast heart rates, or tachyarrhythmias:
Tachycardia - a rate higher than 100 beats per minute
Fibrillation - a rate higher than 350 beats per minute
After exercising, running, playing sport, etc., a fast rate is normal. But a fast heart rate at rest is not normal and should be consulted by a doctor. A high heart rates occur because there is a problem with the heart or its conduction system , which is the part of the heart that generates electricity and allows the electricity to travel down the heart muscle, causing it to beat.
See your doctor asap.

Here are steps to help lower it. You probably should probably make a medical appointment if it continues through today.
Sit down in a comfortable chair. Relax your arms and drop your head forward.
Take a deep breath. Hold it until the count of ten and then slowly let it out.
Repeat five times or until your heart slows.
An alternative may be to put you thumb in your mouth and blow, making sure no air escapes your mouth.

sounds serious. Are you under stress. Do you feel anxious/ Ativan lowers heart rate as well as relieves steress whic could be causing it. When my strees level is high, my blood pressure has gone down to 92 over 69. But my heart rate was 156 restin. If I got up it went way higher. I would definitely talk to your dr. and they will probably prescribe ativan, which is very safe. Sounds like sever anxiety. You must be axhausted. I know when my heart rate goes up like that I feel like I ran a marathon and can't slow it down. It feels like I've exercised myseklf to death. But the ativan is what helps it slow down.

ure resting heart rate depends on many factors, one is the health of your heart, another is medication you might be taking, and yet another is your lifestyle and stress level. probably the easiest way to lower your resting heart rate is to relax-do some deep breathing excercises or yoga, take a long walk, avoid stressfull situations etc
